Why Bookarts?
Why not? Books are increasing overshadowed by digital media.I enjoy the tactile quality of a book and see old, discarded books as an opportunity to alter, transform, thereby extending and portraying a different story.

What materials do you like to use?
Everything and anything! Recycled and discarded objects are my equivalent to a 'bank page' The place from which I can create something new but which has an existing history. Found objects, textiles, paper, or clay - anything to hand!

What inspires you?

My artistic practice explores boundaries and preconceptions, in particular distinctions between craft,  fine art and gender stereotyping. I am interested in how craft activities, traditionally associated with women and domesticity, such as knitting and embroidery can be incorporated into fine art practice.

I create subtle yet playful interventions that may be initially overlooked or misread, to highlight the understated quiet virtues and philosophies of craft. I seek to challenge our perceptions which are often lost in the fast pace of life in the twenty first century.
